In MK7 you have this dumb auto boost where it just happens if you wait long enough, you have no control, and it feels super slow. And you could get better at it with practice. You could fully control it, and you could get little boosts in a second or two even during straight sections. And finally, DD had far and away the best boosting system, wiggling the stick. When I play MK7, my hands hurt from holding down the L button for defense the whole race. Plus there was no god damn holding of the L button. Plus you could have a character that had a good item when you were winning and another with a good item if you were losing and switch when you wanted. For example, having two different characters in your kart let you save items, so you could have a banana for defense while still trying for a good offensive item. ![]() ![]() Every Mario kart game since has removed features that made DD great. ![]() Man half of you guys are crazy, I played DD with almost never letting go of the slide button and it never felt hard to control at all.
